How to Fix Lenovo Laptop Camera Windows 10

On some Lenovo laptops where the webcam does not work, there is a common issue. The webcam itself is either not identified by Windows or the system driver has a glitch. This can be a very frustrating problem, of course, and is not just restricted to Lenovo products.

The cause of this issue arises from a problem with a setting in certain Lenovo laptops that disables the privacy of the laptop user from the camera. Fixing your webcam should be very easy to do in this scenario. You might have some updating or tuning to do to get your webcam to function, if you're not so fortunate.

No concerns, however, we’ll show you what you need to do in this post to address some common problems that you might run into with your Lenovo webcam.

Lenovo Webcam Not Working: How to Fix

Inside the Lenovo application itself, the first solution for the not working Lenovo webcam is. On your laptop keyboard, press the F8 key, which will enable or disable the Lenovo Easy Camera.

If that doesn’t work, try following these steps to fix your webcam:

  • Type ‘Camera’ into the Windows Search box and select Camera Settings.
  • Select Camera privacy settings.
  • Toggle Turn Privacy Mode On to Off.
  • Retest your camera.

This privacy is meant to shield you from hackers, but may be inconvenient if you want to use your webcam.

Other Solutions

We have a few more quick fixes, which will get your webcam working again if the above solution doesn't work.

Verify device Manager

Is the webcam enabled in Device Manager?

Follow these steps to check:

  • Right-click the Windows Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Then Lenovo Easy Camera select Imaging Equipment. There's a problem with this if there's a yellow indicator triangle by the icon. The camera was disabled when there was a small down arrow.
  • Click the Lenovo Easy Camera right and be sure that there is no Enabling option. The choice should be to disable if the camera is already enabled.

You can also update the driver if the camera is already working. To do so, take the following steps:

  • Right-click the Lenovo Easy Camera again and select Update Driver.
  • To see if Windows will find a new driver, select automatic option.
  • Allow it to install and retest.

If Windows is not able to locate the driver, visit the new Lenovo Easy Camera driver on the Lenovo website.

It might be helpful to try a full refresh if a driver update doesn't work. This means the driver is uninstalled, the laptop booted again and the driver from above is installed.

Legacy settings can remain in play even when overwritten by a newer driver.

Check the Program Settings

It can be the setting of the programmer, not the camera setting, if the webcam is working on certain programmers rather than in others.

Just follow these two steps to check:

  • Open the program in question and find the Settings menu option.
  • Ensure that the Lenovo EasyCamera in those settings is set to standard camera.

This may be an obvious solution, but if your webcam is difficult to operate it is worth trying.

Remove the application from Lenovo Settings

If no such solution works, you can fully uninstall the Lenovo Settings app if it interferes. It shouldn't be needed, but you don't have to risk anything if nothing else works.

The majority of settings in the app can also be reviewed from Windows so that the laptop is not damaged in any way.

To remove the Lenovo Settings app, follow these four steps:

  • Navigate to Control Panel in Windows.
  • Select Programs and Features and Uninstall.
  • Select from the list and select Uninstall Lenovo Settings Dependency Package.
  • Reboot your laptop and retest.

Hopefully, after following these steps, your webcam will be working again.
